In fact is not really an adventure, but at least there are more to see in this city, than Brake the rural town. We departed on a road trip to Rotterdam, the Netherlands, on 29 March 2010 in the morning. It’s a 5 hour trip, including time for toilet breaks at petrol kiosk. Here are some photos of the buildings from familiar brands in Singapore.
After which we went straight to work… tired. But the night there is fantastic… i mean the hotel. Wow… think is a 4-5 star hotel. Strange enough, there is a very dilapidated house directly outside it, seems to be a leftover during WWII. Look at the images below:
From the second day onwards, we switched to another hotel, a 3-star i think but still comfortable for me.
The next day after work, we went to the Rotterdam city central for dinner. In fact Rotterdam is the same as Singapore as in you could see all kinds of people from different countries there, black, white, yellow, brown, etc. Everyone live harmoniously, at least seems to me.
Last day in Rotterdam, we went for a tour around the plant. Basically, it is the same as in Brake, except I am allowed a sky view of the surrounding and caught a glimpse of the wind turbine in the Netherlands, which seems the same as in Germany. Can’t really find the old-school wind mill in Rotterdam.
The way back to Brake is a very tiring one because we took train back. Initial plan is to take train from Rotterdam Centraal to Amersfoort then to Osnabrueck then to Bremen then to Brake. But the train schedule is so unpredictable, one of my train got cancelled and made me delay for 2 hours and miss another train but luckily, they seldom check the train tickets, so we just got on any train that could reach our destination illegally… haha. And in total it took almost 9 hours… haiz… anyway a good experience to see more things. Btw, remember to take a leak in the train rather than the station because it cost 50 Euro cents!!! Even the train ticket is expensive, a 1 hour trip from Bremen to Brake cost almost $8 Euro… as compared to Singapore Sengkang to Boonlay is only S$2+.
Taken some of the discount tickets to Rotterdam’s Tourist Attraction in the hotel. Kept as souvenirs though not used… I came to work not play ok…
2 more Sundays to go… home sweet home…
